Items not Permitted

Sharps

For safety reasons, some countries do not allow sharp objects such as; scissors, nail files and pocket knives, to be taken through the airport security screening point. If sharps are detected by security screening they will be confiscated. We recommend you place these items in your checked baggage prior to checking-in.

These restrictions do not apply to those Guests who require the use of syringes for medical use (e.g. diabetics). Aviation security measures allow for these items to be carried onboard an aircraft after they have been screened.

Weapons

Any items that are perceived by V Australia Ground Crew or security personnel to be able to be used as a weapon may not be permitted to be taken through the airport security screening point.

Inflated Balls

All inflated balls (e.g. football, basketball) must travel in the hold of the aircraft as checked baggage. Balloons and other inflatable toys are permitted in the cabin provided they are not inflated.

Bulky Carry-on Baggage

V Australia may accept bulky or fragile items above the standard carry-on baggage size, such as large musical instruments or diplomatic baggage, to be carried in the aircraft cabin. Guests may need to purchase an additional seat to accommodate the item.

V Australia requires a minimum of 15 days notice, prior to the day of travel, for bulky cabin items to be approved for carriage. For further information please contact the Guest Contact Centre.

Interline and Codeshare Partners

Carry-on baggage allowances for flights with our Interline/Codeshare Partners will depend on the operating carrier’s policies for each sector.
